Water Renewable`s?
Yes there is water renewbales besides hydro power that can provide a lot of energy for us if we can capitalize on them properly without harming our environment. Even though there is limited amount of water on the planet because 97.5% of it is salt water that we can’t drink or anything besides swim in it is considered that water is a self renewable source therefore also a renewable energy source. There are three major water renewable energy sources Hydro, Tidal and Ocean but we will only look at the bigger two hydro and tidal. Water renewables are very good to Canada because they can create a lot of jobs in constructing the buildings that can harvest the energy and jobs for maintaining it. The thing is though that Canada already as a lot of hydro factory's due to that hydropower is the most known renewable source the one people should get to know better is tidal energy which is harnessed from the tides power and gravitational pull of the moon.
Tidal Power?
Tidal energy can be obtained in two ways the first is similar to hydro power which is the flow of the water from the tides, then the more unique way which is the vertical rise difference in high and low tide. Tidal energy is EXTREMELY beneficial to output of energy, if the flow of water increases by just a little it can change the output energy two times higher than it was before, all you need is a little luck and making tonnes of extra energy. Tidal power is on a rising staircase that will just rise higher in the coming years because with declining fossil fuels being mined each year and the efficiency of renewables mostly hydro and tidal shown in this prediction chart for the year 2050.
Wind Power?
The wind energy business in Canada grow massively in 2012, it grew by nearly 19% and created over 11,000 jobs and enough electrical power to power over 1.5 million Canadian homes. Most people think when they see a wind turbine if it is spinning it is creating electrical energy, which is almost what is actually happening which shows how much people already know about wind energy just not the details though. A simple but good way to explain it is in three simple steps, 1. The wind turns the blades of the turbine. 2. The spinning turbine turns a shaft which is connected to a generator. 3. The spinning shaft makes the generator activate which creates electricity. A diagram is also shown below if it is easier to understand.
So now you know how a wind turbine works, you can understand how much energy we can gain from them to benefit us. If you think, there has never been a clear day without wind all over Canada once so if we have wind turbines all over Canada we can generate a lot of energy, right now we have just over 5000 wind turbines all over Canada in every Province and Territory. Wind energy is a global success with international growth up to 25% each year and 30 countries staring projects on wind energy in the last couple years. With all this excitement the world can go green but there are problems with wind energy the government doesn't tell us. The first one is the extra taxes they have to pay to construct and maintain over 5000 wind turbines, another problem is how destructive they are they can destroy communities by their disruptive sounds and vibrations that can cause health problems to Canadians. They are also murders they kill THOUSANDS of birds and bats each year it is a horrible way to die for such fragile creatures, not to mention they destroy hundreds of habitats for local animals. So even though they can extremely useful to us they can also be extremely dangerous to us and other wildlife, so we have to be careful where and how we place our wind turbines.
